Basic White Rice
Ingredients
  • 2cups long-grain white rice
  • 1tablespoon butter
  • 3 3/4cups water
  • 1teaspoon coarse salt

Instructions
  1. Rinse under running water until water runs clear, about 1 minute.
  2. Drain rice well.
  3. Melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Add rice and cook, stirring frequently, until edges begin to turn translucent, about 2 minutes.
  5. Add water and salt and bring to boil.
  6. Cover tightly with aluminum foil, reduce heat to low, and simmer until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender, about 16-18 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
  8. Fluff with fork.
  9. Serve.
