Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1pound canned whole tomatoescrushed or lightly puréed
  • 1/4cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 7cloves garlicpeeled and sliced
  • 1pinch crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1sprig basil

Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the oil.
  2. When it is hot, add garlic.
  3. As soon as garlic is sizzling (do not let it brown), add the tomatoes.
  4. Add red pepper flakes and salt.
  5. Add basil sprig and simmer sauce until thickened and oil on surface is a deep orange, about 15 minutes.
  6. Discard basil.
