Bagara Rice

Ingredients
  • 2 cups basmati rice, washed & drained
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 serrano, split in half
  • 1 cup coriander leaves
  • ½ cup mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, finely minced
  • 2 each bay leaf
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 5 each cloves
  • 4 each cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon wild cumin (shah Jeera)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons salt
Method:
  1. Fry the onions till golden brown add the serrano, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaves, mint leaves, ginger/garlic paste and fry on low heat till the raw smell goes.
  2. Add rice and fry for few minutes, add the salt to taste and water and bring to boil, then lower flame cover and cook for 8-10 minutes till rice is done.
  3. If using a rice cooker, add rice in the bucket, add the fried ingredients to the rice in cooker bucket and cook the rice.
